Arthritis and osteoarthritis are a common occurrence, especially in dogs, and last year one in four dogs in America were diagnosed with a form of the bone disease (1). Likewise in the UK, last year the PDSA conducted a survey regarding the veterinary treatment of arthritic pets. Out of 267,000 of the PDSA's patients "over 30% of dogs and 10% of cats UK-wide were prescribed tablets primarily used to treat problems like arthritis (2)."
